Priorities and Preferences

“Sometimes things in life happen that allow us to understand our priorities very clearly. Ultimately you can see those as gifts.” - Mariska Hargitay

There are several important things in our life. We set priority of things according to its importance in our life. Things remain same but priority changes with time. Priorities also differ person to person according to their age and instances.

Let’s take an example; suppose you have a jar and I tell you to fill up the jar with the maximum number of stones inside this. Idea is simple, you will choose the stones first with bigger one in size so that maximum number of stones you can put inside. If we consider this jar as our life, the bigger stones are our priorities. If you are a student, your first priority must be your study. For professionals their first priority is their job. For parents, it is their children. For a housewife, it’s the family etc.

Divide things according to its importance in life. If broadly we see, take those things first in preferences which directly relates to your identity, existence or survival. Your Job And family comes under this category. After that you can take things of your interest, hobbies, your friends, society. For daily activities, take your duty hour on priority, remaining time for family and friends, and the rest of your time for your hobbies and entertainment.

Give your time and effort to sort out things which are most important to you and need to be sorted out. Do not avoid things over  the time !!

Ego

- Is it the extended form of self esteem ?

In my view, Ego is not an extended form of Self esteem. Self esteem is a kind of defense mechanism which resists ego from others so this is completely a different thing from ego. When a person compares himself from others with a kind of negativity inside them and is ready to pull others down, this comes under ego. Self esteem never harms others; it protects one self from being harmed by others.

Ego is such kind of mental disease which combines the infection of “Selfishness” and “Greed”. If a person is selfish then definitely he will be egoistic and greedy. These three qualities belong to each other and come altogether in a bundle.

Self-centered people differs from egoist, they mostly think about one self not having thoughts of others or not comparing one self to others. Neither they help others nor they harm or pull down.

When ego combines with ill mannered activities (as a result of ego itself, byproduct) and we love to do so, it becomes “Pride”.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”

-  Mahatma Gandhi

Ego involves domination of others, if you try to make yourself important by dominating others you are suffering from ego.

Be wise, think broad!!

Presence of ego is a sign of going downstairs. Always prefer the giving attitude, help people and take help from them too. Never underestimate others! Learn, grow and be happy altogether with the outer world!

Dreams

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”

- Walt Disney

The most powerful thing is a dream. It is the origination of progressive thoughts. We have uncountable thoughts everyday and can not control our thoughts but we can give direction to our self of having the type of thoughts and this is possible by our dreams. This is the leading mechanism which drags us towards our destination.

This process is very straight and simple. Dreams are like a seeds which grows with time and productiveness of your surroundings and one day it becomes substantial very gently. This is the truth, it will grow with time, only the thing which must be taken care of is that you have to select the right seed for you according to fruitfulness.

Dreams are our initiation point from where any great achievement begins. This makes you cautious about importance of your steps which you take to accomplish your job to succeed. This is like an individual which always guides you to take any important decision for your career prospect. This is responsible for your dedication and determination during achieving your goals.

Dreams are far away from the voracity and egoism. Dreams relates your emotions to your goals. Human feelings have a great strength, only the thing is, we should utilize it positively by our dreams. All the great achiever of the history, they were the great dreamers, a dreamer with a mission. They did have a dream and devoted their whole life to achieve that.

So dare and have courage to take one dream for your life and give all your efforts for its accomplishment.

"Spiritual relationship is far more precious than physical. Physical relationship divorced from spiritual; is body without soul."

 - M.K Gandhi

The most complex and the easiest thing is love. How can it be both at the same time, right?

I recall one story about the heaven and hell. One man asked to saint once "what is the difference between heaven and hell?" saint took him to a place where there were two rooms side by side. The word "Hell" was written in the first door. Saint told the man to get inside. The man saw there were so many men with hands tied together with fork and that was the dining hall. There were very tasty dishes placed in front of them but they are not able to eat those dishes as the fork size was very long. Men were starved and collapsed. Saint said to the man "let us go to the next door” and they went there to the next one. The word "Heaven" was written there. They get inside the door and saw there were lots of men sitting in dining table with the same scene, their hands tied together with a very long fork but they were happy and satisfied. They were feeding each other in spite of trying for self.

The man asked to saint “what is the meaning of these rooms, both places are same but how people in one room are quite different from the people of others?” saint replied “In first room which is Hell, people are hungry and starved because of their selfishness, gluttony and absurdity. People in other room they are contented and wealthy because of their mutual love, care and sacrifice.”

Same things apply in our real life too. We are all breathing in this world. This world may be a heaven for one while may be hell for another. Here for them only the lacking thing is love, care and sacrifice for them who are blaming their life and the world. This rule applies in all parts whether it is our personal family life or it is our professional life. Things are not going to change automatically. If you want to make your life beautiful like heaven you have to change yourself, then the change will reflect to your life.

So this is our moral by which we can make the same place either heaven or hell and the source of humanity and morality is Love. Love is a thing which makes us worthy and gentle, this bounces us back to think and share in a decent way.

Positive Action

"Labor is the key of success"
"Hard work is the pillar of success"

Is this true?

Some of you will agree on this, while some of you are not and some of you will say it should be "smart work" in place of hard work. Working hard to get your goal is always good but what if we can achieve success working in a more wiser way in place of working harder. Yes, Working smart is always preferable rather than working hard.

“what should I do?”

Let us take some day today activities. Suppose, you are talking to somebody who is very near and dear one to you then you can talk for a long time without getting bored but if you talk with some unwanted people, very soon you will face your boredom. You are walking in a road alone you will feel tired but if you are walking inside a shopping mall with you friends for your favorite stuff you will feel good and energetic. Eating with your favorite taste keeps you happy while eating other stuff which you do not like gets you irritated. Gossiping with your neighbor old lady seems the wastage of time while you talk with your best friend for a long time.

So this is simple, it should be interesting for you whatever you do. This depends on your interest areas, your likes and dislikes. If singing comes in your interest area, you can sing for a long hours without getting tired or irritated. When we do something what we love to do, we spend our energy positively for the job done that is why we do not get tired by the job requirement. If you do not like any particular job and you have to do this by any way, make it interesting for you. Let us take an example for a 4-5 years old kid, not interested to go for study at all. What do we do at this moment? We should go for some animated video for the study material so that a kid can learns things by his all interest.

We do things to fulfill our need directly or indirectly. You ever heard “Man is a social animal” we depend on other people or things for our needs. Our need may be physical, social, material or emotional. If we get something good in result by our job we take interest in this. Our subconscious mind relates with those things of our need to our interest areas. In most of the cases we take initiatives to like things as it fulfills our need. Taking an example of arranged marriage in India, Two people unknown to each other live their life with love, satisfaction and happiness after their marriage. They begin to adapt and adjust, they changes their likes and dislikes according to each other. Why? Because they must fulfill their mutual emotional needs. They realize subconsciously that this change is necessary for their better survival. This is natural and reasonable too.

So your actions must be based on your need, then by the time you begin to like this even you do not like this at the initial stage.

“How should I do?”

There are so many alternatives, you can choose to do things. Suppose you have to go to Airport, by how many ways you can go there – by walking, by city bus or by you private vehicle. You prefer the medium according to your cost, comforts and time. If you stay far away from airport, this is not reasonable to go by walk even you like walking. You prefer private vehicle because it saves your time and energy and gives you comfort of journey. If this is not under your cost you prefer other mediums to compromise with comforts. Remember time is an important factor in job accomplishment because time saves energy.

For job accomplishment you need to be flexible and adaptable with your likes and dislikes, you should know how to maintain your interest with time because you may feel saturated with time. It depends on how much you like your job. We consider this in point of view of an employee doing job in a private company. Initially when he joins company, he is interested and he loves his job. After spending a couple of years he feels saturated even paid well with all comforts. He is no more going to like this job and changes the job in other companies. Sometimes interest changes according to our need as we compare ourselves with others. In this case if some other company provides more cost and comfort to their employees, he is on the stage where he is no more going to like his own company. This is very straight and simple. This is not being counted as selfishness or self centered behavior, here everybody want to survive as better as possible.

So always do your job which you love to do, the job you do not like try to do it in a more interesting way by taking the help of people or technology. Consider cost, comfort and time at the time of doing job.
